Dining Out New Orleans: District Donuts Sliders Brew Elmwood

While visiting the grandsons in New Orleans (oh yeah, also their parents!), they decided they wanted to go to their favorite donut shop for breakfast. So off we went to http://districtdonuts.com/

This isn't your typical glazed donuts to go stop.  From their website:  We do everything from scratch, down to our sprinkles! We use real food made with integrity; we don't use pre-made mixes or artificial flavors, and we use all natural ingredients wherever possible.  We are 100% scratch and 100% fresh. We offer seven rotating donuts every day, our catalog is now well over 100 options. In addition to these creative options, you can always count on us to have our staples: glazed, cinnamon sugar and chocolate glazed.  These will never change.

Unfortunately, the boys dove into their cinnamon and chocolate glazed choices immediately before I could begin to get a picture.

However, Sweet Harold and I both chose savory options from their menu, and I can share these pics with you.

He chose the Scrambled Egg, Turkey Sausage, and Cheese Biscuit. $4.50 The biscuit has a French toast topping, so it's a little crunchy and is packed with flavor.

When I saw Hot Chicken and Honey Butter French Toast Biscuit ($6.50), how could I not try that? Now, check out this biscuit. A lightly battered, well-seasoned chicken thigh, drenched in honey butter and served on a French Toast Biscuit. Does this not look amazing? Y'all this gets the award for #1 breakfast of the week.
