After taking a long walk on the Windsor Riverfront, we decided to grab a bite to eat and enjoy a glass of wine. The Bistro at the River was an excellent choice. Literally steps away from the Riverfront, with the amazing Detroit skyline across the river, we knew the patio area was calling our names.
We thought by ordering from the appetizer menu, we would each have a little to share with the other. These "appetizers" could easily have been entrees.
Mussels Marinara with Pesto was my choice. Large steamed mussels were served with a spicy marinara and grilled bread alongside. $10.00 I was well pleased.
Harold ordered the Grilled Baked Shrimp and Cheese. Now how can something be grilled AND baked, you ask? The grilled shrimp are sautéed in garlic butter, cilantro and herbs and baked
with mozzarella and served with garlic toast. $12.00
We enjoyed our leisurely "snack" while people watching on the Riverwalk, seeing the lights from across the river in Detroit and counting the numerous freighters on the river.
The service was a tad slow, but that was fine because we had a wonderful view and a nice breeze to enjoy. A perfect spot for our one evening in Ontario.
