Dining Out Southeast: Linda's Place, Rockmart, Georgia

As we're traveling through North Georgia Saturday, we were beginning to get hungry for lunch.  Actually, we were sort of dreading it, because we thought we were doomed to a drive-through fast-food burger.  I happened to look out the window and saw a packed parking lot at Linda's Place.  Yes, it took a u-turn to get back to Linda's, but thank goodness I spied the restaurant and we were able to enjoy their hospitality.

We were warmly welcomed and told to sit wherever we desired. Cindy was our server and she promptly brought our drink order (sweet and unsweet tea).  The sweet tea for me was the perfect level of sweetness.  Not syrupy sweet, just perfect.

Cindy helpfully gave suggestions and answered our questions about the Saturday specials even going so far as to bring me a taste of the chicken and dressing to help me make up my mind what to order.

And yes, that taste of chicken and dressing sealed the deal for me.  Here's my plate of deliciousness.

My "meat and two" consisted of a LARGE serving of chicken and dressing (with the perfect amount of seasoning), well-seasoned pinto beans, and truly Southern turnip greens.  I should know, right? The yeast roll was served hot and it was Oh, So Good.  See that little container of peppers?

When I ordered the turnip greens, Cindy asked me if I wanted hot pepper sauce.  Well, of course, I did.  You can't eat greens without hot pepper sauce.  We asked....yes, these little bites of heat are homemade.  And when added to the beans and greens, they were elevated to an entirely different level.  Great job on those peppers!

And here's what Sweet Harold ordered for his "meat and three".  Another Saturday special:  Steak and gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, and turnip greens.  I have to taste his food so I can give an honest review, true?  The potatoes were well seasoned, the steak was tender, with a great crunchy crust.  An excellent sample of Southern green beans, as well.

I've included pictures of the menu so you can see for yourself all the options Linda's Place offers their diners.  I can't wait to return and try more of their dishes.

And all this food PLUS two LARGE servings of tea?  $16.59.  Yes, you read that correctly.  If you are ever in the area, please stop by and tell them that Lolly sent you.

Then come back and send me a message and thank me!  :)
