Random Thoughts

With all the uncertainty that is going on with the entire world right now, you would think fresh herbs would be the absolute LAST thing on my mind.  After we made the decision to follow through with a self-imposed stay at home exile, I realized that Spring is almost here, and I never made it to the home improvement store to get my herb plants.

I felt a drop in the pit of my stomach because I do enjoy having fresh herbs steps away from my kitchen on our deck.

I decided to go out to the deck earlier this week and start cleaning up and straightening so we could at least enjoy sitting outside.

Look at what I discovered!  My parsley plants rarely even make it through July due to our Southern heat.  Not only did this parsley plant survive last Summer's intense temperatures, but it also made it through the Winter as well!

It gets better!  Check out the thyme!  The pot is full of thyme, but I chose to focus (literally!) on these individual sprigs!

My oregano plants also never survive the Winters here.  Hmmm.  Look at this beautiful sight!

We all know you can't kill mint even if you try.  So, yes, there will be plenty of mint leaves for juleps.

And yes, the rosemary is thriving (as it always does), and the chives have decided to pop up out of their planting soil and be ready for recipes.

So even while our world and our lives are in such a state of upheaval at the moment, the Good Lord was already at work, making sure I would have fresh herbs to cook with while we are at home.  That may seem like a tiny thing to some of you, but to me, it's a comforting reassurance that we are being taken care of in ways we can't even comprehend.
