Bacon Cheeseburger Stromboli

What's not to love with a bacon cheeseburger, right?  What's not to love with a ooey gooey stromboli, right?  Now combine the two and you're up to something fun and delicious.  Whether you have a household with kids and teenagers or adults, this stromboli combines all the best of a bacon cheeseburger and with this recipe there's enough to feed a crowd on a budget!

1 lb. hamburger meat
1/2 medium yellow onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 t. salt
a few grinds of black pepper
2 T. Worcestershire sauce
1/3 cup Thousand Island Dressing
2 T. ketchup
1 refrigerated pizza dough (I used Pillsbury 11 oz.)
5 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
12 dill pickle slices
6 slices American cheese

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.  Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil.

Add the hamburger meat to a medium skillet over medium high heat.  Cook for a few minutes, breaking the meat up with a wooden spoon.  Add onions and garlic and continue cooking until no pink remains in the meat.  Drain the meat and add salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.

Add meat mixture to a medium bowl and add Thousand Island dressing and ketchup.  Stir to combine.

Unroll the pizza dough on the baking sheet and shape into a 9 x 13 rectangle.  Spoon the meat filling lengthwise down the center of the dough.  Carefully spread evenly toward the edge of the dough leaving a 1/2 inch border.  Sprinkle the bacon evenly over the meat.  Add the pickles and place the cheese slices evenly over the pickles.

Roll one long side tightly around the filling.  Press the edges to seal completely.

Bake stromboli for 16-18 minutes until the dough has browned and the internal temperature is at least 160 degrees F.

Remove from oven and let rest 5 minutes before slicing.  A serrated edged knife will be the best for slicing for serving.

Serve with additional Thousand Island dressing and/or ketchup on the side.  With a crisp green salad, you have a nice meal!
