We arrived in Cherokee, North Carolina mid-afternoon and decided we would eat a substantial late lunch and forego dinner tonight. We had noticed All Fried Up on previous visits to Cherokee and there's always a full parking lot which is a good sign! So we decided we'd give them a try.
No table service here. You go in and get in line to order as you would in a fast food restaurant. However, the food here is NOT on the level of fast food!
I chose a two piece chicken meal which I mistakenly assumed would be a two piece chicken finger meal. Imagine my delight when the cashier asked if I would like white meat or dark meat or a mixture! Wait....this was going to be real, fried, on the bone chicken??? You betcha!
There was a little wait because they're actually frying this chicken to order. As you can see, the crust was a perfect golden brown. This is chicken like my mama used to fry. It was well seasoned, the coating was nice and "Southern," and it was served fresh out of the fryer (which means it was HOT). I was excited to see steak fries on the menu and ordered those before I realized that I was going to have real, honest to goodness fried chicken. I should have had mashed potatoes and gravy to complement that delicious chicken. The fries were good though. The slaw was nice and crunchy and I enjoyed it as well. For some reason, I had two hush puppies and they were out of this world. I didn't care for the cornbread muffin....it was sweet. :(
Sweet Harold spied fish and chips on the menu. Upon his inquiry, he was told the fish was haddock so his decision was made.
A large serving of nice and crunchy battered haddock. He also enjoyed his steak fries and slaw. He was giving my hush puppies a side eye, so I had to quickly eat them before he got any ideas of trying to sneak them out of my basket. His opinion of the cornbread muffin was the same as mine...we each had one bite and that was enough.
The menu offers sandwiches, salads, a nice selection of appetizers, chicken and waffles, and a variety of fish tacos. We may have to try another meal here before we go home!
It all looks delicioius
