Sweet Harold had a craving for sushi. While at the Mountains. Hours away from the ocean. But, that shouldn't matter, right? Of course, Cherokee, North Carolina has a sushi restaurant!
As you can see, there's everything you can imagine (sushi-wise) that you could ever want to order! Sweet Harold studied the menu, made his selections oh so carefully, and was prepared to order! That is until the server informed him they didn't have a "sushi-roller" available today, so therefore, no sushi. I really wish she had told him that as soon as we we were seated so he wouldn't have wasted 10 minutes selecting his sushi roll preferences!
But he quickly readjusted his menu plan and we got busy ordering a selection of menu options to try.
We started with fried dumplings. These were delivered to the table within 2 minutes of ordering and were served still sizzling from the oil! Very light and crunchy dumpling with a flavorful filling.
We also wanted to try the egg rolls. An order includes two and they weren't the regular size you would expect from a Chinese restaurant obviously. Again, a very light wrapper and filling. Very tasty.
My combination dinner came with soup OR salad. I couldn't decide which I'd rather have, so I ordered the clear broth soup and added a salad with ginger dressing.
As you can see, these are very generous portions! The soup was my favorite. The ginger dressing was applied with a heavy hand. If you're not a big fan of ginger, ask for a half serving of dressing or for it to be served on the side.
Sweet Harold ordered the Jumbo Shrimp and Chicken which included mushrooms and broccoli, with fried rice and sweet carrots. Again, a very large portion and he was happy with his meal. Carrots are his favorite vegetable and these were some of the best he's had flavor wise. They were a tad overcooked.
I ordered the steak and chicken with mushrooms served with fried rice and carrots. The steak was better than the chicken to me. It was more tender and well seasoned. The rice was okay, and even though carrots are NOT my favorite vegetable, these were quite tasty to me.
Maybe next time we visit Cherokee, the sushi chef will be there and Sweet Harold can have his sushi craving satisfied.
I'm a sushi snob, I only eat it at certain places around here. Their other items look very good though.
