I just returned from three days in NYC. I traveled with some wonderful young ladies and we chose to have breakfast at Liberty Bagels. Two members of our group had been here before and we were all excited to see what all their chatter had been about!

Their bagels are made the old-fashioned way: hand rolled, kettle boiled, and baked. This location is near many landmarks and "must see" places in the city. The dining area is cozy, so be prepared to wait for one of the few tables, or take your order to go.
Considering the long line which was all the way to the door, service was surprisingly efficient and you can tell they have the ordering, preparing, and delivering the food to the diners down to an art form. The line moved quickly for us.
Not only are there dozens of bagel combinations to choose from, there are all sorts of breakfast sandwiches available.
There are dozens of types of bagels, along with yogurt, omelets, chef's signature sandwiches, wraps, salads, paninis, and grilled sandwiches. As you can tell, there's something for everyone!
But now we get to the cream cheeses. Wow. What a selection.
We had six in our group and were scattered throughout the dining room, so I was only able to take a pic of my selection and that of the young lady who shared my table.
I was so tempted by all the cheeses and bagel options. I mean seriously tempted. How could I choose? After deliberating while I stood in line to order, I selected an everything bagel (toasted) and scallion cream cheese.
This is a LARGE bagel. It is NOT your typical grocery store sized bagel. The bagel itself was nice and chewy. There is an extremely generous amount of cream cheese. The flavor of the scallion was subtle, flavorful, and not overwhelming in the least. I couldn't finish it, but savored every bite that I ate.
My table dining companion selected the rainbow bagel with birthday cake cream cheese. Isn't that beautiful? She was thrilled with her choice.
The remaining members of our group had different flavors of bagels and muffins and everyone enjoyed all our selections.
While we dined the dining room was filled with a mixture of locals and tourists. Don't let the line to order deter you...it goes quickly. You're going to need the time in line to decide what to order!
I'll have to live vicariously through you... NYC is way too far for this Mississippi country girl.
ReplyDeleteThat's what this Alabama country girl thought, too!
