Smoked Sausage and Kraut

When I was a little girl, my mother often made this dish using hot dogs, sliced and browned and then mixed with the kraut.  I wasn't a fan at the time, but now with the addition of smoked sausage instead of hot dogs, I enjoy this now and again.  It's one of those comfort food meals.

1/2 pound smoked sausage (cubed or sliced)  I used Conecuh Hickory Smoked
1 large can kraut drained
freshly ground black pepper

In a large skillet, over medium heat, add the sausage and cook until sausage is nicely browned.

Add drained kraut and stir to combine and let the kraut heat through.  Add black pepper to taste.

This is excellent served with cornbread and mashed potatoes.
