This is an extremely versatile gravy. With the change of broths or pan drippings you can make different versions by using the same easy 1-2-3 steps!
You'll only need three ingredients!
3 T. butter
1/3 cup self-rising flour
3 cups broth or pan drippings
Step 1. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Step 2. Add flour and cook, stirring constantly, for 1 - 2 minutes.
Step 3. Slowly add broth or pan drippings, stirring or whisking constantly, while gravy thickens, 3 - 4 minutes. Taste and add black pepper and salt if needed.
See? Easy peasy!
If you want chicken gravy, use chicken broth.
If you want beef gravy, use beef broth.
I made this gravy to go with open faced pork sandwiches. I had cooked a pork tenderloin in the crockpot with chicken broth. I used those drippings to make this particular gravy.
Of course, this would be the perfect gravy to make for Thanksgiving with your turkey drippings!
