Power XL Air Fryer Pro: Cajun Chicken Wings

I continue to experiment and tweak different coatings and cooking temperature and time.  Today's wings were the best yet!

These super crunchy Chicken Wings were cooked in my Power Air Fryer Pro.

I was given a complimentary appliance for testing purposes by https://www.powerxlproducts.combut all opinions are my own.

The Power Air Fryer Pro can be purchased at major retail stores nationwide such as Wal-Mart, Bed Bath and Beyond, Costco, Kohl's, Target, Sam's Club, Amazon or from their website found here: https://www.powerxlproducts.com/kitchen/power-xl-air-fryers/6-qt-powerxl-airfryer-pro.html

Today, I used Zatarain's Southern Buttermilk Chicken Fry Mix.  We wanted a spicy version to enjoy while watching football this afternoon. I added Cajun seasoning to both the wet dip and the dry coating.

4 lbs. chicken wings, separated and tips removed and discarded
1 box Zatarain's Southern Buttermilk Chicken Fry Mix
2 T. Cajun Seasoning
1/2 cup water

Mix 1/3 cup Fry Mix and 1/2 cup water in a medium bowl.  Pour about 1 cup Fry Mix onto a plate or into a plastic bag.

Spray the airflow racks lightly with non-stick spray.

Dip chicken wings, one piece at a time, in the batter.  Shake off excess.  Roll chicken in Fry Mix until evenly coated.  Discard any remaining batter and Fry Mix.

Place chicken wings on racks in a single layer.  Place racks into Air Fryer and turn the unit on.  Press the "chicken leg" icon and increase the temperature to 400 degrees F. and increase the cooking time to 40 minutes.

Halfway through cooking time, rotate the racks so that the top rack goes to the bottom and the others move up one level.  Continue frying until the time is up and the internal temperature of the chicken is 165 degrees F.

We preferred not to toss these in sauce, but to enjoy the ultimate crunchy coating on the wings.  The spice level was "just enough heat," but you could certainly increase the amount of Cajun seasoning used or omit it entirely.

Our verdict?  These were the BEST yet!  It's fun to continue to experiment with the Air Fryer!
