Dining Out Southeast: Mountain Parkway Grill, Sand Rock, AL

We spent Saturday afternoon wandering through antique stores. We happened upon the Mountain Parkway Grill in Sand Rock and I remembered hearing from a friend that she had really enjoyed her meal here.  Pictured above is their menu cover.  That quart Mason jar?  It's filled with sweet tea and a very fine sweet tea it was!

The menu has local favorites such as Meat and Three options, steaks, BBQ, and catfish.  As we discussed and debated our choices, we ordered fried dill pickles to nibble.  As you can see, this is a very generous portion and the batter is a nice crunchy, cornmeal version.

I know y'all won't be at all surprised to read that I chose the fried pork tenderloin along with creamed potatoes, and fried green tomatoes.

You have a choice of either brown or white gravy on either or both.  The fried green tomatoes were large and had the perfect crunch.  The potatoes were homemade (love those little lumps!!) and the pork tenderloin was one of the best I've ever had.  The pork was tender and nicely seasoned.  Both gravies were served hot which is oh so important.

Doesn't that look delicious?

Sweet Harold chose the country fried steak, mashed potatoes, and coleslaw.  Again, very generous portions of well seasoned and delicious food.  What's not to love?

The owner walked the spacious dining room greeting guests and checking to make sure everyone was enjoying their meal.

The decor was nice and welcoming.  Keep checking back on the blog because we will be returning to try one of those steaks!
