If you want a super fast recipe for an easy peasy biscuit, here you go! The basic recipe has two ingredients: whipping cream and self-rising flour. That would make a perfect "breakfast biscuit." However, I made these to go alongside our pork chop Sunday supper, so I jazzed them up a bit with a little granulated garlic, shredded cheddar, and fresh chives from the herb garden. Oh, these were so soft and tender!
Let's make some biscuits!
You'll need to preheat your oven to 500 degrees F. Yes, 500 degrees. The biscuits will cook in 10-12 minutes and you need that heat to get them to rise quickly.
Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
Place 2 cups of self-rising flour in a medium bowl. I use White Lily. Add in 1/4 t. granulated garlic, 1/2 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese, and 1 T. thinly sliced fresh chives.
Slowly pour in 1 1/2 cup of heavy whipping cream and gently stir to incorporate it into the flour. You want to just moisten the flour. The dough WILL be sticky.
Pour the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. (Use self-rising flour) A large cutting board will work nicely.
Very gently pat and knead the dough to about a 1/2" thickness. Dust liberally with flour on top of the dough and fold it over.
Again, pat or roll dough gently to a 1/2" thickness. Using a 2" biscuit cutter, cut out the biscuits one at a time and place on the parchment paper lined baking sheet.
You'll probably need to re-roll the dough a time or two as you go.
Bake the biscuits for 10-12 minutes until they are golden brown.
Remove from oven, butter, and enjoy immediately.
Remember, for those breakfast biscuits, simply omit the garlic, cheddar, and chives.
We love biscuits, this sounds like a recipe I could actually make.
