Mexico Beach has been under a heat advisory for the past few days. We've braved the heat to enjoy every minute of the beach that we could. But today, we made the joint decision to forego another full day of sun and surf. We drove East on U.S. Highway 98 to St. George Island to revisit another favorite of our trips to this part of the world.
When we last visited Blue Parrot Oceanfront Cafe last October, the outer bands of Hurricane Milton were already making their presence known. We dined during a downpour, but have had fond memories of our server Renea and the delicious food.
Today we were able to sit outdoors and enjoy the beautiful weather.
We knew from our last visit how much we enjoyed the onion rings and hushpuppies, so we ordered those for our appetizer. Then I spied crab claws on the menu and we added those to begin with those as well.
These were as on point as they were previously. Not greasy at all and both were expertly fried. The seasoning on the onion rings was just right. The hushpuppies were light and fluffy on the inside with a nice crunchy exterior.
Now to the blue crab claws! There was 36 in this order and instead of cocktail sauce, drawn butter was served alongside. These were even better than the other two I've tried on this trip.
It was Sweet Harold's turn to order the fried oyster basket with fries. For a lunch order this was an extremely generous serving and, again, whoever is in charge of the fryer at this restaurant knows what they're doing.
Bay Scallop seasoned opened today so lucky me! I ordered the bay scallop basket with fries, but with all the other delicious sides, I think I may have eaten only 3 or 4 fries at most.
The scallops were very lightly breaded, seasoned well, and expertly fried. Another basket that was very generously served.
Here are the menu photos.
Ya'll both got a lot of sun... The review makes me want to drive there and try out their food.
