Blackstone Griddle: Breakfast Time!

 


Fun with the Blackstone Griddle continues.  Everything on my breakfast plate was cooked on the griddle.

Let's take it step by step!  Cooking goes quickly with the Blackstone Griddle so it's important to have everything ready before you even begin to preheat the griddle.


I preheated the griddle on high heat for about 5 minutes, then cut the heat down to medium-low.  

I placed these sausage patties directly onto the griddle straight from the freezer.


While they cooked, I began the hash browns. I've tried fresh, frozen and thawed, and straight from the package frozen. But recently in Sam's, I found these!


These are dehydrated potatoes which are quickly reconstituted with hot water.  For our batch, I put 1 cup of potatoes in a bowl and covered them with 1 cup of hot water.  Twelve minutes later, I drained the small amount of water which remained.  During those 12 minutes, I diced 1/4 cup of red onion along with 1/4 cup of bell pepper.

Now, to the griddle. A tablespoon of vegetable oil on the griddle and then the potatoes. Using a metal spatula, I spread them out to begin to cook. While the potatoes were busy browning, I added the peppers and onions and about a teaspoon of oil to the griddle.


After about 5 minutes, I combined the potatoes and the veggies, and continued to use the spatula to turn everything every few minutes.


By the time the hash browns were done, the sausage patties were as well.  I moved the sausage and the hash browns to the same end of the griddle and turned the heat to low to keep them warm.

Next up, the toast and the tomato slices! I turned the heat to low and placed the buttered (on both sides) bread onto the griddle.  When the first side was browned, they were flipped with the spatula.  Same thing with the tomato slices.  Onto the griddle, lightly salt and pepper, flipped when they began to soften and turned a darker shade of red.



As they were ready, I moved them to the "keep warm" end of the griddle also.

Last, but not least, scrambled eggs!

I whisked together three eggs, salt and pepper to taste, a splash of water, and a slice of American cheese cut into small pieces.

A pat of butter on the griddle, then I sloooooooowly poured on the eggs.  The eggs will immediately begin to cook, so be ready to start stirring and flipping with the spatula. Depending on how done you like your scrambled eggs, the time to cook will naturally vary.
