Dining Out Southeast: Wintzell's Oyster House, Guntersville, AL

Last Saturday was my birthday and I chose Wintzell's Oyster House for my birthday meal. We went mid-afternoon and even though there were many diners, we were promptly seated in one of the dining areas.  For those that would prefer to dine outside to enjoy the gorgeous views of Lake Guntersville, a large screened-in porch is available.

Jamie was our server and she was on top of her game Saturday.  Our sweet tea was delivered promptly while we attempted to select our appetizers.  We narrowed down our choices to fried green beans with a jalapeno ranch dressing and a half dozen char-grilled oysters.

The green beans were lightly battered and served piping hot. The jalapeno ranch dip was the perfect accompaniment.

The char-grilled oysters were tasty, but I would have liked a little more butter to go along with those tasty breadcrumbs.

Sweet Harold decided to try the fried shrimp dinner with fries and coleslaw. The shrimp were nicely seasoned and lightly battered.  He enjoyed his meal.

I selected the fried oyster dinner with a side salad with a herb vinaigrette and a baked potato.  The salad was fresh and crisp.  I loved the vinaigrette.  A dozen oysters which were also lightly battered and seasoned perfectly.

For my birthday, I received a complimentary serving of bread pudding.  This was rich and an excellent bread pudding.  Yes, we took advantage of those two spoons and shared!
