Dining Out Southeast: Snead County Cafe, Snead, AL

For quite a while, various Facebook friends have asked if we have tried the food at Snead Country Cafe.  Today after church, we decided we'd take the short drive up to Snead and check it out.

Snead Country Cafe is located at 87793 U.S. Highway 278, Snead, AL  35952-9646.  Their hours are 5:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M., Sunday - Saturday.

They offer a daily buffet with several protein choices with a variety of vegetables, a salad bar, and several dessert options  If you order from the menu, there's burgers, sandwiches, and BBQ from which to choose.

Today, for Sunday Dinner we opted for the buffet.  Today's selections were the following:

Baked ham with pineapple, pork tenderloin with gravy, chicken and dressing with gravy, REAL mashed potatoes, fried okra (not the breaded and frozen kind), corn, butterbeans, English peas, cornbread, biscuits, and rolls.  The salad bar (which I didn't partake of) looked fresh and well maintained.  The dessert choices were pineapple cobbler, yellow cake with chocolate frosting, and chocolate pudding with whipped topping.

Now here's the part you need to read carefully:  ALL of that food INCLUDING drink was only $12.00!

Below is the plate I enjoyed along with the bowl of butterbeans which didn't fit on the plate!

No pictures of the desserts, because honestly, after inhaling the above, there was no room!

This quaint, unassuming restaurant has food that tastes like your mama, your grandmama, and your favorite aunts have been cooking all morning.  The service was friendly and the sweet tea glasses never came close to being empty.

We'll definitely be back!

  1. I love good yellow gravy on my dressing. I wish I could figure out how to make it.
