Dining Out Southeast: Woody's Bar and Grill, Ft. Payne, AL

I spent a lovely afternoon with my daughter and three granddaughters at Orbix Hot Glass making our own Christmas ornaments.  By the time we finished, everyone was hungry, so we stopped at nearby Woody's Steak House, Seafood and Grill located at 105 Country Road 89, Fort Payne, AL  35967.

Sweet Harold and I had dined there over a year ago just when restaurants were reopening.  Things were a little out of kilter for that visit although the food was tasty.  The kids were hungry, my daughter was hungry, and I was hungry....so Woody's it was!

I selected the fried chicken breast with a baked potato and fried okra.  The chicken was well seasoned and perfectly fried; crunchy exterior, juicy interior.  The baked potato was served hot and was cooked through.  The fried okra was your typical frozen then fried okra, but tasty nonetheless.

My daughter tried the hamburger steak cooked with peppers and onions, mashed potatoes, and onion rings. She was happy with her choice. The mashed potatoes are the real thing, the steak was cooked to her liking, the peppers and onions were tender/crisp and the onion rings got a thumbs up.

Granddaughter #1 almost ordered a hot dog with fries, then she changed her mind and almost ordered a cheeseburger.  At last, she made her final decision and ordered the BLT with fries.  She requested no mayo, but did add ketchup at the table.   She ate every bite!  She was also a fan of the lemonade.

Granddaughter #2 ordered the Fried Green Tomato BLT with onion rings.  She, too, requested no mayo and added ketchup at the table.  Both girls were very impressed with the bacon.  lol  She loved the onion rings.  Again, a clean plate when we were finished with our meal.

Granddaughter #3 is a huge fan of chicken wings.  She ordered hers plain with an order of fries.  Surprisingly, we received 6 wings instead of 8, but then had two chicken fingers!  Either way, she was happy with her meal and, yes, another empty plate!

While we were waiting for our food, Woody himself walked through the dining room and chatted with the granddaughters.

I'll be bringing Sweet Harold back soon for another meal!
