Dining Out Southeast: Big Mike's Steakhouse, Guntersville, AL

For our 26th wedding anniversary meal this week, we chose Big Mike's Steakhouse in Guntersville, Alabama.  We hadn't visited the new City Harbor area since businesses have opened.  We were very impressed with the area and all the unique shops and dining establishments located here.

The view from our dining table.

Big Mike's doesn't accept reservations, so we arrived soon after they opened at 4:00 p.m.  We were warmly greeted and promptly seated.

We started our meal with fried crab claws and City Harbor Shrimp.  As you can see from the photos, these are large portions for appetizer items.  The crab claws were lightly battered and perfectly fried. The shrimp were topped with a sweet and tangy sauce and were served over a tasty portion of fresh greens.

Entrees include a salad and potato of your choice.  Again, the salads were large (!) and the dressings (ranch for me, blue cheese for Sweet Harold) were fresh and flavorful.

The bread was served hot with a butter seasoned with cinnamon and brown sugar.

Now to the steaks!

I selected the Main Channel Strip (14 oz.) cooked to medium-rare.  This steak was extremely tender, well-seasoned, and topped with a garlic herb butter.  My baked potato was (guess what?) large!

Sweet Harold selected the 16 oz. rib eye cooked medium-rare and a loaded baked potato.  He was very happy with his selection.

We were too full to enjoy a dessert right then, so we brought our complimentary anniversary bread pudding home.  Bread pudding's not my favorite dessert, but Sweet Harold enjoyed.

Happy Anniversary to us!

And a few more pictures of the area around Big Mike's.
