Dining Out Republic of Ireland: Murray's Bar, Dublin, Ireland

After walking over 7 miles exploring and falling in love with Dublin, we were all ready for dinner.  My son suggested Murray's Bar which he knew we would enjoy.

It's a lovely restaurant festively decorated for the Christmas season!

Here's the view of the bar area from my seat.

We held a semi-intervention and told Sweet Harold he absolutely could not order another meal of fish and chips today.  lol  He agreed and went in an entirely different direction and ordered the beef burger on a potato bun with skinny fries.  The menu describes it as such:  Two 4 oz. beef patties, Dubliner cheddar, burger sauce, homemade pickles, romaine, and tomato relish.  He thoroughly enjoyed this burger after he got over the shock of not eating fish and chips at a meal.

I was ready for pasta and I'm always ready for seafood, so Prawn Linguine was my choice.  Regular readers of the blog know one of my biggest criticisms of restaurant food is lukewarm food.  Well, that could never been a concern here.  Even the last bite of this delicious bowl of goodness was still piping hot, enough so that it merited a cooling blow of air to enjoy that bite!  The sauce was thick and flavorful and the pesto topping was yum!  A very generous serving of prawns was mixed in with the sauce and pasta.  This was a totally satisfying dish.

Menu description:  fresh egg pasta, prawns, slow roasted plum tomato sauce, basil pesto, and parmesan. This is another dish I'll be thinking about long after I'm home.

Favorite son order the rotisserie half-chicken:  half chicken roasted with garlic, rosemary, and thyme, grilled corn on the cob, creamy slaw, house potatoes with red wine gravy.

The atmosphere with busy, fun, and lively!  Service was a little laid back.  You have to request your bill when you're finished and ready to leave restaurants here in Ireland.  They are in no way going to rush you through your meal or out the door.  You're welcome to stay as long as you like and enjoy yourself.  That's a welcome surprise instead of our custom of gulping down our meal and being rushed along out of the door.

I would love to return here for another meal.
