Dining Out United Kingdom: Little Wing Pizza, Belfast, Northern Ireland

Grandson #2 had told me (repeatedly) since we arrived that I HAD to have pizza from Little Wing Pizza.  It's his favorite pizza joint in Belfast and yesterday we finally made out way through the rainy drizzling holiday traffic to give it a try.

We started out with cheesy bread.  Four of these plates of goodness disappeared within minutes.  A cup of (extra) garlic butter slathered on top was their crowning glory.  A thin crust of bread layered with cheese and then put into the pizza oven to melt and brown.  YUM!

Both grandsons ordered margharita pizzas but they had inhaled them before I could get around the table to snap a picture.

Little Wing offers an option to get a personal sized pizza and either a chicken Caesar salad or cup of minestrone soup for about $8 U.S. currency.  Three of us chose that option.

Sweet Harold opted to have a ham and mushroom calzone and order an additional chicken Caesar for himself.  He also got a nice little side salad on his calzone plate.

The Cotto E Funghi Calzone has ham with roasted Portabello mushrooms and Parmigiano cheese.  The crust was light, flaky, and delicious.  The filling was a great balance of ham, mushrooms, and cheese.  Served PIPING hot.

Next up is my choice:  Prosciutto Di Parma:  Parma Ham and fresh rocket (arugula) with grated Parmigiano.

This was a great little pizza.  The Parma ham was nice and slightly salty and the rocket (argula) gave a nice peppery bite to the richness of the pizza.

My chicken Caesar salad was well dressed, fresh, and had a nice amount of chicken.

Nathan order the Cotto E Funghi pizza with a salad.  This is the same ingredients that was in SH's calzone, but in pizza form

Emily had the Tuscan pizza which includes spiced pork and fennel sausage with red onions, red jalapenos, finished with rocket (arugula) and chili oil.  She omitted the arugula and added mushrooms.

Even though we had a 45 minute wait for a table, it IS the last few days before Christmas, school is out, and holiday shoppers are out in full force here in Belfast.  We enjoyed our meal and our service was excellent.

Good job Titus!  Thanks for your recommendation.
