In January of each year, I bring out the snowmen and the blues/whites/and silvers to decorate our home and especially the kitchen and dining room. Before we left for our month long visit to Ireland, I removed the few Christmas themed decorations that I had placed here and there because I knew when we returned, I would not be in the mood to deal with Christmas items!
I'm still in the process of going through my mother's things and my sister and I each chose pieces of her blue Currier & Ives collection. I paired these pieces with some of my lapis Fiestaware plates and a few of my deep blue cut glass pieces. I think it's a beautiful combination of blues.
My mom had these four small cordial glasses in a separate cabinet, but I fell in love with them and brought them home.
She had two distinct sets of mugs. These are the larger ones with rimmed bottoms. I decided these were the ones I preferred for this setting.
I tried different shades of blue and white of my Fiestaware and the lapis paired best in my opinion.
No snowmen in sight for this January sideboard, but what a nice way to honor my mom. She always looked forward to see what I came up with to showcase on the sideboard with each change.
I love this Currier and Ives set! My china patterns was Johnson Brother's Friendly Village and I have dozens of pieces but this blue is very soothing!
