As regular readers of the blog know, if we're on a trip, and we feel the need to enjoy "one more meal" at a restaurant before we return home, that's the winner for us! Well, this time, we dined at Native Brews for the second time tonight.
Tonight, Sweet Harold decided to try a "flight" of brews in 4 oz. servings. As you can see from the photo above, he tried those from the very dark to the very lightest brews. His favorites in order of preference were: Elk Stout, Swampwater Porter, Socco Light, and, last but not least, Flaming Arrow.
I tried the Sex by the Creek: Vodka, Peach Schnapps, Bumbu Rum, fresh pressed OJ, pineapple, and a splash of cranberry. It was as delicious as it looks!
Sweet Harold ordered the Chicken Pot Pie. This pot pie looks like a work of art doesn't it? The filling had a generous amount of chicken and vegetables in a creamy, rich filling. The puff pastry crust was lightly browned and was a unique "crust" as opposed to a heavy dough version.
I ordered what I thought would be a "light" dinner: a club sandwich. Well, I should have realized that portions here are hearty and they do not want you to leave hungry. So here is my "light" dinner along with a generous serving of tater tots.
Y'all realize that 2 or maybe 3 people could have enjoyed this sandwich! Full of meat and cheese on hearty bread, this is what all club sandwiches wish they were. My favorite part: the bacon was cooked to a chewy/crisp stage and not cooked until it was bacon jerky. That added a great texture level to the sandwich. I loved it!
Service was great, food was delicious, atmosphere rocked. What more can you ask for? Put this one on your list of places to try!
Chicken pot pie is one of my all time favorite meals. Wow! at least 2 people could eat on that sandwich.
