Sweet Harold requested a hamburger steak meal this week and I was more than happy to oblige. This version is what I refer to as a "take some short cuts" meal. I purchased pre-pattied ground chuck, packaged mashed potatoes, and an envelope of gravy mix. Yes, short cuts all around, but some nights call for extra help.
4 (1/4 lb.) ground chuck patties seasoned with
1 yellow onion, halved lengthwise, then sliced
8 oz. white mushrooms
1 envelope brown gravy mix prepared according to package directions
1 - 2 T. Worcestershire Sauce
Heat a large skillet over medium heat and cook ground chuck patties to an internal temperature of 150 degrees F. Remove from skillet to a plate and set aside.
Drain skillet of burger drippings and return to stovetop. Add in onions and mushrooms. Cook, stirring frequently, until vegetables soften, about 5 - 7 minutes.
Pour the prepared gravy into the skillet and stir to combine. Reduce heat to low. Stir in Worcestershire sauce.
Serve with mashed potatoes! Don't skimp on that gravy when you're plating!
