Dining Out Gulf Coast: Joe Mama's Pizza, Port St. Joe, FL

One of my most favorite restaurants anywhere is Joe Mama's Pizza in Port St. Joe, Florida.  We have never had anything on their menu that we didn't love.  Service is always top notch, the food is prepared promptly, and the food is always outstanding not only the flavor, but the quality.

Today we started with the house bread with herbed olive oil and parmesan while we attempted to choose which pizza we would enjoy this trip.  With their wood fired oven, the pizzas are so flavorful and the quality of the ingredients on each of their selections combines to elevate their pizzas to an experience, not just a meal.

The bread was freshly baked and the olive oil was full of herby goodness.  We added additional parmesan at the table and this was indeed an ideal start to our meal.

With the carb overload, we knew we should add a salad to our meal.  No boring side salad here...we selected the Crab Caesar Salad:  Romaine, local jumbo blue lump crab, Nueske's bacon, and house made Parmesan crisps.  Y'all.  This salad is worth the drive from anywhere in the Southeast.  It's.That.Delicious.

The romaine was fresh and crisp, the bacon perfectly fried, the salad was loaded with jumbo crab meat, and the dressing was not overpowering like some Caesar dressings can be.  The parmesan crisps were flavored with rosemary and are something I'll be attempting to duplicate at home.

Look at these pieces of crab!

Since I chose the salad, Sweet Harold had the honor of selecting the pizza.  He wisely chose the La Foresta:  Mushroom trio, Nueske's Bacon, shaved Grana Padano Parmesan, and truffle oil.  Are you hungry yet?

Again, the quality of ingredients make all the difference in Joe Mama's pizzas.

Look at this cheese!

If you're a mushroom lover, a bacon lover, and/or a high quality cheese lover, this is the pizza for you.

Amber was our server today and she was exceptional.  We felt welcomed, she was patient with our time to select our perfect lunch choices, and had a delightful attitude.

Next time you're anywhere near the Florida panhandle, give them a try.  You'll enjoy your meal.  I promise.
