Fleur de Lolly: Dining Out Gulf Coast: The Smokehouse BBQ, Cape San Blas, FL

In August 2023, we visited this great BBQ joint. Here's my blog post from our first visit: Smokehouse BBQ

We knew the next time we visited Mexico Beach, we'd take a drive over to Cape San Blas to enjoy more of their delicious BBQ offerings.

If possible, today's menu choices were more delicious as we remembered from our last visit.

We began with the Smoked Fish Dip. Ordinarily when we have ordered smoked fish dip, we're given a small scoop of dip and a few pieces of toasted bread or chips. This was a meal in itself!

First, let me tell you about the presentation. A LARGE scoop of delicious (lightly) smoked fish which was not overpowering on the smoke factor at all. A generous serving of chips, diced tomatoes, spring mix, and pickled jalapenos. One of the Best, if not THE best, smoked fish dip we've ever had.

We ordered a variety of menu items to give y'all a good review. Oh, the sacrifices we make to give y'all a great overview of the goodness they offer here!

Sweet Harold was ready for some fried shrimp. He ordered the shrimp basket with fries and a side of the cowboy beans. Six large shrimp, with a nicely seasoned batter and a tasty cocktail sauce.

The Cowboy Beans were thick, smoky flavored, and were just what you want from a BBQ restaurant side of beans.

I ordered the chopped smoked chicken sandwich with a side of potato salad. The chicken had a great smoke flavor and was nice and moist. The bun was lightly toasted and the amount of chicken on the sandwich was impressive!

The potato salad was flavorful and was a great pairing with the chicken sandwich.

And just because we wanted to try the ribs, we ordered four. The dry rub was a great combination of smoky/heat and the ribs had just the right amount of smoke flavor. They were extremely tender and we really enjoyed them.
