Air Fryer Burgers

I had every intention of grilling our burgers outdoors this afternoon.  However, the high temp today was in the mid 20s.  So, it seemed the ideal time to attempt burgers in the air fryer.

We purchased this Emeril air fryer for our Christmas present to each other.

For these burgers, I had 1.5 ground chuck which I seasoned liberally with Hardin's Seasoning and shaped into four patties.

While I was shaping the patties, I preheated the air fryer to 450 degrees F.  The patties were placed on the grill pan.  As you can see, these are larger burgers.

Into the air fryer on the lowest level.

The burgers cooked for 6 minutes and then it was time to flip them over and return to the air fryer.

Another 6 - 7 minutes to complete their cooking.

Now as you can see, there's not a lot of browning, but that's to be expected since they weren't cooked over an open flame on a grill.

Adjust your cooking time to reach the internal temperature you desire.  If you want to add cheese, of course, add cheese.

Here's my burger with mayo, mustard, Heinz 57, chopped lettuce, onion, and pickles.

Our verdict?  It's obviously not a charcoal grilled or gas grilled burger.  However, I'd rather have a burger cooked this way than the mess that comes with pan frying a burger on the stove top.  The texture was great, clean up was a breeze, and we enjoyed them!
