Clarified Butter

If you think simply melting butter is the same as making clarified butter.....well, no.  You're well on your way, but take a few extra minutes and get the real deal.

By removing the water content and the milk solids, you're left with butter of the gods.  And so very simple.

Take a 4 cup microwave safe measuring cup or bowl.  Place two sticks of butter in the cup or bowl and melt the butter in the microwave.  It will be probably take about 2 minutes.

Remove from the microwave and let sit for a few minutes.  The butter will separate into three layers.  Skim off the top layer of foam and discard.  Slowly pour the clarified butter into a separate heatproof container.  Discard the bottom layer of milk solids.
