Dining Out Gulf Coast: Joe Mama's Wood Fired Pizza, Port St. Joe, Florida

As y'all know, I love pizza. It's one of the foods I could eat every single day.  Add in a wood-fired pizza oven to the mix, and this is a meal made in heaven.

Joe Mama's Wood Fired Pizza, located in downtown Port St. Joe, Florida, offers pet-friendly dining on the patio.  It is apparent that this location is a favorite with locals and visitors alike.  We chose different menu items to try from our previous visit a few years ago.

We started with Parmesan Bruschetta which includes a three-cheese spread with bacon and tomato basil relish and served with crostini  $10.00

This dish could literally be a meal in and of itself.  The bread was perfectly toasted and had that great "crunch."  The three-cheese spread was super creamy and flavorful.  The bacon and tomato basil relish (doesn't that simply sound delish?) was fresh tasting and the bacon did not overpower the delicate basil.

We chose to share an individual (10-inch) wood-fired pizza.  The basic cheese pizza is $7.00.  Additional toppings are $1.00 each.  Here is the list of toppings available and, trust me, there's something for everyone!

Pepperoni, Italian sausage, fresh onions, caramelized onions, bell peppers, garlic, olive trio, mushroom trio, Nueske's bacon, fresh or roasted tomatoes, basil, roasted peppers, anchovies, roasted chicken, shaved parmesan, fresh mozzarella, spinach, hot calabrese peppers

We chose two toppings each:  I selected Italian sausage and basil; Sweet Harold decided on bacon and mushroom trio.

Try as I might, there was not ONE negative about this pizza.  The crust is thin with that perfect char on the bottom from the wood-fired oven, the toppings were generous, and the cheese was the perfect gooey, stringy, melty consistency that you love.  

If you are ever in the area, please do you and your taste buds a favor and drop in for lunch or dinner.  You will not be disappointed.

The service was professional and efficient.  An added bonus for us was this our anniversary lunch and it was perfect.
