Dining Out Southeast: Decks and Docks, Leesburg, AL

Last Friday, we took a short drive over to Leesburg just to try out this restaurant. Located directly on the banks of Weiss Lake on the Coosa River. There are tables for dining indoors along with many tables on a shady deck where you can enjoy your meal or a refreshing beverage while enjoying the gorgeous scenery.

They also have a covered deck area right on the water where boats can tie up and dock and walk just a few feet to the bar for drinks or a meal.

Here's the menu!  As you can see, they offer so many casual dining options from which to choose.  Pizzas, burgers, salads, wings, shrimp, and so many more yummy choices.

We always try those fried pickles to see where they rank on our scale! Their version features large dill spears instead of smaller slices.  I prefer these. Check out the batter on the spears.  See the dried dill IN the batter? We could really taste the extra layer of flavor on these.  Served with ranch dressing on the side.  $6.95

We also shared a 5 piece lemon pepper chicken wing order served with your choice of ranch or blue cheese dressing.  $5.95.  Bursting with that lemon pepper flavor we enjoy so much.  I look forward to trying more of their flavor options.

Sweet Harold agonized over his lunch choice.  He wanted to try several things but finally settled on the Mushroom Swiss Burger $8.95  This burger was VERY large and loaded with all the yummy toppings you expect.  It was cooked to a perfect medium.  The fries were lightly battered and fried just right.

I chose the shrimp basket which is served with hushpuppies, fries, and coleslaw.  $10.95 There were eight very large shrimp which were lightly breaded (which is a plus!), the fries as described above, and a shredded cabbage coleslaw which had a great mayo-based dressing.  The hushpuppies were undoubtedly the best hushpuppies I've ever ordered in a restaurant.  Light and fluffy with the addition of corn kernels.  When I mentioned to our server Courtney how much I loved them, she told me they offer them as an appetizer...so, note to self, next time order an appetizer basket portion!

We enjoyed our meal, the service, and the atmosphere.  It will be great whenever Fall finally decides to show up and the weather cools some and we can enjoy a meal on the deck under the trees.
