Blackstone Griddle: Stir Fry Egg Roll

Sometimes, well most times, I am instantly drawn to the "discount" cart in the produce section of my local family-owned grocery store.  This week I came across a package of Broccoli Slaw marked down to 99 cents! And, as a result of that find, here's the recipe for the delicious meal we enjoyed.  Cooking outside on the griddle kept the kitchen cool and it only took 15 minutes to cook!  Here's all the delicious parts of an egg roll without the fried wrapper

You can use ground pork or chicken for the protein.  However, I had a package of breakfast sausage in the fridge, so that was my choice.  This recipe carries some heat.  So if heat is not your thing, eliminate the chili garlic sauce altogether.  If you enjoy spice in your life, use hot sausage and increase the amount of chili sauce or add additional dried red pepper flakes.

Don't eliminate the Lawry's Sesame and Ginger Marinade.  The lively mix of mandarin orange juice, soy sauce, toasted sesame, ginger, and garlic coats the meat and vegetables just before serving.

Here's your ingredient list:

1 lb. ground pork, chicken, or breakfast sausage
1 t. vegetable oil
1 large yellow onion, halved and thinly sliced
1 T. chopped garlic
1 T. chili garlic sauce
12 oz. package broccoli slaw
1/2 cup Lawry's Sesame Ginger Marinade
toasted sesame seeds for garnish

Preheat the Blackstone griddle until a drop of water sizzles.

Lower the heat to medium high.  Add the vegetable oil to one side of the griddle and top with the onions.  Place the protein of your choice on the other half of the griddle.

Break the sausage up with a metal spatula and let brown.  Flip the onions occasionally so they begin to soften.  When the meat is mostly browned, add the garlic and mix it into the meat.

Add the broccoli slaw on top of the onions and using two metal spatulas, toss them together.

When the meat has completely cooked, mix in the chili paste, if you're using.

The vegetables in the broccoli slaw should be cooked only until they are tender-crisp.  Now it's time to combine the meat with the vegetables.  Mix well and then pour the marinade over the top and using the two spatulas, combine everything together.

Plate and top with sesame seeds.  Serve immediately.
