We were caught downtown yesterday afternoon when a May thunderstorm caught us by surprise. We quickly decided we'd go to S•À Cantina for street tacos for lunch. S•À Cantina is a traditional Mexican street food restaurant embracing difference cultures and flavors. A modern, yet rustic, feel with a relaxed, eclectic and unique environment. Click HERE to visit their website and check out the extensive menu.
Sweet Harold chose three different street taco options:
Here is the Pork Belly Street Taco: caramelized in a sweet arbol chile glaze with cilantro and pickled red onions.
Next up is the Korean BBQ: beef marinaded in their house Korean BBQ sauce and topped with Asian slaw
His reactions to each: the pork belly was tender and flavorful with just enough heat; the roasted duck had a lingering heat from the tamarindrglaze; the Korean BBQ was his favorite. He enjoyed all three, but when pressed on which one he'd definitely order again, the Korean BBQ won. He liked the crunchy Asian slaw, too.
Now, my turn! I originally ordered chicken, but they were out of chicken due to the large number of diners there for Taco Tuesday the night before. So, on to Plan B.
I decided on two tacos:
Steak with pickled red onion and salsa picosa (which means spicy) and it was and so very delicious! The steak was extremely tender and well seasoned.
Gadsden is very lucky to have such a unique restaurant in downtown.
