Dining Out United Kingdom: Madame Pho, Belfast, Northern Ireland

After an afternoon spent at the movies to watch the new Wonka film, and then a trip to the grocery store for food for the week, we loaded up the car and headed to Madame Pho's for some amazing Vietnamese food.

As pictured above, we began our meal with crispy prawn crackers with a rice wine dipping sauce.  The best way to describe these delicacies is like a crunchy thicker version of a Pringle chip, but with a shrimp flavor.  Paired with the dipping sauce, these were gone quickly!

We also enjoyed one of the specials of the night:  Vegetable and Chicken Dumplings.  These were yummy and I may have eaten more than my share.

Of course, we had to order spring rolls which were served with gem lettuce and a Nuoc Cham Sweet Chili Sauce.  These spring rolls were served "lava" hot, but were nice and crunchy. The dipping sauce was my favorite of the sauces served tonight.

Upon Emily's recommendation, we decided to try the Salt and Chili Chips with peppers (HOT!!!) and onions served with Sriracha mayo.  Oh wow, these were yummy.  Be mindful of those peppers!

I ordered the chicken Bánh mì with pickled carrots, daikon, cucumber, coriander, and mayo.  I have made these at home and loved them, so I knew an authentic version would be beyond belief.  This one was.  The bread was nice and chewy, there was a perfect balance of chicken and pickled veggies and an overall pleasing flavor of ingredients.

Nathan had the crispy BBQ pork neck
Bánh mì with ham, pickled carrots and daikon, cucumber, coriander, and mayo.  The sandwich routinely has pate added, but he asked for it on the side so Sweet Harold could enjoy it and enjoy it he did!

Grandson #1 had the Shaking Beef Rice plate with caramelized beef cooked with bell peppers, onions, and garlic served with a fried egg and rice.  This is his regular order and he said it was delicious as always.

Sweet Harold and Emily chose the same meal (which she shared with Grandson #2).

Combination rice plate with grilled prawn skewers, vegetable spring roll, and chargrilled pork neck served with a fried egg and rice with a portion of coconut curry.

Sweet Harold loved EVERYTHING.  All the new flavors and textures and presentation of the food was spectacular.  We all agreed that this is one place we will definitely want to return to again before we go home.

Service was so efficient.  The food was delivered super fast and our server was patient with our questions and varied orders.

12 thumbs up!
