Dining Out United Kingdom: Quinn's, Newcastle

We spent the morning exploring the area between Belfast and Newcastle. Gorgeous countryside, abandoned castles, and awe-inspiring churches and cathedrals.

Once again, our tour guides (favorite son and daughter in law) knew the perfect spot to grab some lunch.

Quinns in Newcastle was just what we had been looking for in an authentic Irish pub.  Even though we had fish and chips for a late dinner last night, I knew without a doubt that's what Sweet Harold would order today.  He was ready to have his first Guinness in Ireland and he was very pleased with this pint!

He also agrees with this sign!

I ordered my personal favorite, a pint of Harp.  I love the flavor of this beer.

Emily had a Bailey's hot chocolate and it was everything you can imagine it would be.

As expected, SH I another order of Fish and Chips, but this time the Mushy Peas were included as a side.  He dearly loves his English peas and his fondness for them carries over to their UK cousin, mushy peas.

Nathan ordered the Jamesie Burger which had two beef patties, jalapenos, pulled pork with a Jameson based BBQ sauce, lettuce, and pickles.  He was very happy with this burger and "skinny fries."

Emily ordered the steakhouse burger that had cheddar cheese and bacon along with "skinny fries."  This was a rather large burger and she wasn't able to eat the entire burger!

I couldn't pass up an opportunity to enjoy a fish and chips meal either.  My version had a nice serving of lemon and black pepper battered cod bites.  The fish were nicely cooked and I could taste both the lemon and black pepper in the batter without it being overpowering.  Underneath the fish bites was a fresh, crisp salad with a tasty vinaigrette!

Of course, we seasoned at the table with some malt vinegar!

Service was outstanding.  No tips are required at restaurants and, as a result, you're never rushed by servers who want to turn over tables to make more tips.  That's a nice bonus.

Here are a few more interior pictures for you to enjoy.
