Dining Out Republic of Ireland: The Fish Box, Dingle, Ireland

We arrived in Dingle mid-afternoon and window shopped for awhile and took in the beauty and uniqueness of the area.  But, as always, hunger always finds us and thankfully for us, we found The Fish Box.

This is a small restaurant that only seats about 20 people at any given time.  The staff was welcoming and after a brief wait, we were seated right next to the front window!

Here's the menu!

And here is our motley crew.

The adults decided to try the seafood chowder to start and we all agreed this is the best we've had on our trip.  FULL of huge pieces of seafood with a rich creamy broth that was expertly seasoned.  The crunchy parsnip strips on top were excellent!

The adults all decided to order the "Sharing Box" (one for each couple).  Deep fried fish of the day (halibut), breaded sole, monkfish goujons, Cajun calamari, tempura prawns, fresh cut chips, a house salad, tartar sauce, and Marie-Rose sauce.  Oh my goodness.  Everything on this plate was amazing.  You could taste the freshness in every bite.

These two got separate pictures because they got lost in the picture above and deserved special recognition themselves!

The kids had fried calamari and fried prawns and they gobbled up their dinner as well.

As we were leaving, we heard a Southern voice!  Yes, an employee there was originally from Tennessee.  We visited and chatted and felt like family.

I hope one day to return to spend more time in Dingle and when I do, I'll be sure to return to The Fish Box.
