Dining Out Republic of Ireland: The Moorings, Dungarvan, Ireland

We went in a few places for dinner in Dungarvan and they just didn't match our mood/vibe or were already packed with long waits.  A hostess at a nearby restaurant recommended The Moorings down on the waterfront and we decided to give them a try.

As you can see from the pictures, this looks exactly how you would expect a local place on the waterfront to look.  Here's the scene from across the way from the restaurant.

These are the most narrow doors I've ever walked through.  The right side was shut tight, so one had to squeeeeeeze through the left side door.

We were seated right inside the front doors near the bar area.

Almost immediately the "jug" of water and glasses arrived at the table.

Here are the menus!  As you can tell, something for everyone.

While we decided on our meal choices, Sweet Harold and I made our beverage decision!

Now on to the food!

I ordered off the appetizer menu and still have a delicious meal with an ample portion size.  Beautiful and slightly spicy Tiger Prawns with garlic and chili butter.  Also included was a small salad and a toasted piece of bread to get every bit of that garlic/chili butter!

Sweet Harold selected the Moorings 3 in 1 which included crab meat, prawns with Marie Rose sauce, and smoked salmon each served on brown bread.  A salad was also included.  He said the smoked salmon was his favorite by far.

Nathan and Emily both selected the Traditional Burger served with chips and coleslaw.  The menu stated the burgers were 4 oz., but they commented that they thought the burgers were larger portions than that!

Grandson #1 chose the pasta was tomato/herb sauce.  He was a little taken aback by the amount of Parmesan garnish, but seemed to enjoy his meal.

Grandson #2 ordered his regular go-to:  a cheeseburger and a side of garlic bread.  When his burger arrived with no cheese, he politely requested a slice of cheese and our server immediately brought him TWO slices.  As I've learned, garlic bread is served with a side salad.

All in all, a great meal in a neat location with a family friendly atmosphere.
