On our way back from the Republic of Ireland, we stopped about a half hour from Dublin to have dinner. The consensus was sushi, my son did a Google search, and we arrived at the next door to each other restaurants of Lings Chinese Restaurant and Koi Japanese Restaurant.
When we entered, we realized we were the first (only!) diners there at that time, but we decided we'd give it a go. Here's the menu cover and some dining room pictures.
For our starters, we had spring rolls and edamame. The grandsons loved the edamame. Emily and Nathan had the spring rolls. They gobbled them up, so I'm going to assume they were good!
I needed some warming myself, so I ordered a bowl of hot and sour soup. This version was very different from what I am normally served, but it was so delicious. Their soup had a much thicker broth and an almost tomatoey flavor with a LOT of vegetables and tofu.
Grandson #1 and Nathan each ordered the Yasi Tempura: Zuchinni, eggplant, sweet potato, mushroom, asparagus coated in a light crispy batter served with tempura sauce.
I'm not a sushi fan not because of the raw fish aspect, but due to the texture. I'm glad so many people enjoy it (including Sweet Harold), but I'll go with tempura every time.
I had the House Mixed Tempura: Black tiger prawns, squid, haddock, crab sticks, zucchini, eggplant, asparagus coated in a light crispy batter served with tempura sauce.
Sweet Harold ordered a California Roll (crab, avocado and cucumber) and the House Special Fried Rice which had prawns, chicken, pork, and egg.
The Spider Roll has crispy soft-shelled crab, topping masag0.
A nice meal to break up the drive home and the boys were full and happy. That's all that matters.
